On 10/08/2011, Angels & Airwaves released their film titled "LOVE" in the U.S and it premiered all over the country at 500 cinemas. The highly anticipated and arrival of the filmn was well received by fans as well as film aficionados. The film had already premiered at such film festivals, Santa Barbra and Seattle's. This was the first time where for one night only fans and film enthusiast from all over the country could go to their local cinema and get a glimpse of the film before its November release.
Angels & Airwaves, a band from California, started by front-man Tom Delonge, in the wake of the blink-182 break up. They have so far release 3 albums and now are on their way to drop another album in November this year. The rest of the band are made up of Atom Willard, David Kennedy and Matt Wachter. The group has been described by DeLonge as more than a band but more accurately "an art project [that approaches] larger human themes and tackles them in different mediums", or simply "a multimedia project. Below is the trailer to the film "LOVE".
Synopsis (taken from LOVE (2011 film wikipedia)):
In the year 2039, United States Astronaut Lee Miller is sent to the International Space Station as a one-man skeleton crew to examine if it is safe for use after it had been abandoned two
decades earlier. Shortly after arriving on-board, Lee loses contact with
Earth and finds himself stranded in orbit alone. As time passes and
life support systems dwindle, Lee battles to maintain his sanity and to
stay alive. His world is a claustrophobic and lonely existence and he
begins to dream of prior crew members -both Russian and American-
depicted in Polaroids left aboard the station from previous missions.
After experiencing power problems, Lee is forced to journey into a
portion of the ship that he earlier depressurized where he makes a
strange and inexplicable discovery, the journal of a Civil War captain
from 1864. Love explores the fundamental human need for
connection and the limitless power of hope. A high-impact visual
adventure, that resonates a common truth, that everyone has a story to
tell and something even greater to leave behind. It explores the need for human connection, the fear of isolation as well as defying all odds.
How it all started:
The film had been worked on for numerous years while at the same time Angels & Airwaves were composing and writing 2 albums; LOVE pt. 1 and pt.2. The two albums were supposed to accompany the film upon its release. In 2010, they release the first part of the album and now coming up in Spring (Australia), they'll be releasing not only the second half to their project but the film itself on the 11/11/11.
New Song/Video:
At the end of the film, Angels & Airwaves surprised and treated their fans with the premier of a new song titled "Anxiety" and shows the band performing on a stage set to the background of a montage of scenes from the film itself. With its liveliness and beautiful cinematography accompanied by this space rock anthem and uplifting feel it makes the video majestic and glowing. Another amazing and wonderful sound created to capture and accompany life itself. You can check out the video below:
Unfortunately
i was not able to attend this spectacular event as i was stuck in a
"land down under", restricted to the strains of studying, but i would
have very much liked to had a look myself. However i am excited for when
they release the film later on this year for the whole world to see! It
should be something very exciting for the rest of the world. Personally I am very excited to hear the new album as well as see the film. I've been waiting for this for a long time now and i can finally feel it coming close to me. I cannot wait to see the creation Angels & Airwaves have install for the rest of the world! I would like to say congratulations to Tom, Atom, David and Matt on the suceess of the film and I wish them all the best with the release later on in the year.
